Brigade Commander Otto Skorzeny carried out a singular operation during the first days of the Battle of the Bulge, and this was the Operation Greif, consisting in introduce a German unit behind the American lines, the Panzer Brigade 150. This unit was formed whith German tanks disguised in American tank destroyers and also few captured American vehicles. Some of the German soldiers wore american uniforms and had to demonstrate knowledge of English (Einheit Stielau commando). The mean objective of the mission was to take some bridges over the river Meuse and cause chaos, disruption and disinformation behind the American lines. Although the Operation did not have the expected success, it caused a high psychological effect to the Allies, with rumors and suspicions of German infiltrated spies and commandos everywhere that lasted till the end of the war. A fear that General Eisenhower could be kidnapped was generalized for a period of time...and other anecdotal suspicions. It seems to be that some isolated units reached the Meuse, but causing any effect. Two German soldiers wearing American uniforms drove a jeep into Malmedy, and stopped in a bar to drink some coffe and talking with the GI's there with absolute normality...But not all had the same luck, 18 captured Germans wearing US uniforms were martially judged and immediately executed...

Cool, what scale are they?
