A step back in time... Fokker Dr1, March 1918...Manfred von Richthofen.

Manfred von Richthofen was the highest scoring German ace of WWI with eighty confirmed victories. Also called the “Red Baron”, he is possibly the most  well known aircraft fighter ace of all time. Altough best known for the all red triplane in wich he scored his last victories and was eventually shot down, he flew several Albatros biplanes and Fokker Dr1 triplanes.
Lothar von Richthofen, the youngest brother of Manfred, also fought as a pilot in Jagdstaffel 11 and scored 40 victories. His Fokker Dr1 had a distinctive yellow color tail. He survived the war and worked as a commercial pilot.
Below pictures are from  1/48 scale (Corgi) Fokker Dr1 nº 152/17, and Fokker Dr1 nº 454/17 , Jagdgeschwader nº1, Jadgstaffel 11.
These brightly colored aircraft earned the nickname of  “Flying Circus”...
