The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil (Arrow) was a German
heavy fighter with a revolutionary design. The disposal of the two engines in
line (tandem), offered much better performances than other contemporary
twin-engine aircraft. Designed as a heavy fighter-bomber, the project was in
order to fly by late 1944 and despite its innovative design it had a very short operational life, “eclipsed” by
the new incomig jet-powered aircraft as the Me 262. Only about twenty Do 335
entered in action by the Erprobungskommando
336. Two Do 335 survived the war.
