The P-47 Thunderbolt was the largest, heaviest and most expensive fighter aircraft of the WWII. This fighter-bomber was a response to the race to do big and powerful fighters trying to outclass Axis planes and causing a psychological effect against enemy... Well armed, it had eight 12.7 mm guns (four each wing) and could carry a wide range of bombs and rockets...resulting a devastating weapon against ground targets.
